What Consumer Reports said about iPhone 15 Pro Max?
Some people were
concerned that the new titanium frame of iPhone 15 Pro Max if it was indeed less sturdy.
Especially after a consumer posted video on his channel showing that he could crack the back of his iPhone 15 Pro Max by bending it in his hands; despite the smaller 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro did not crack in the same way.
Consumer Reports attempted to repeat the test with more rigorous methodology:
The 1st test:
Using a compression test machine that exerts 100 pounds of pressure over the device, & the result was that the phone flexed & recovered again after the pressure released, but no cracks could be detected.
The 2nd test:
The Pro Max was
also put through a drop test, which involved dropping the phone 100 consecutive
times onto a stone foundation, & again the phone was unharmed and survived.
Recall that the display and the frosted rear glass are sandwiched by a titanium frame around the sides of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max designs. The internal aluminum chassis and the titanium are bonded together.
People have questioned if the rounded edges where the titanium meets the glass make the glass more likely to break or crack, despite the fact that titanium is a strong material in and of itself.
